My Name is Sam Hough
I am the preacher at Vernonia Christian Church in Vernonia, OR. I am currently learning how to really lead a church in intentionally making disciples, who will make disciples, who will make disciples. My goal in life is to be a part of a healthy team who helps people come to know the grace and salvation that Jesus offers. Then, takes people to the point in life where they are full fledged disciples of Jesus capable and proven to be proficient in reproducing their faith and christian fruit in others. I am married to a beautiful, energetic, wonderful, and faithful wife who loves Jesus more than she loves me. I would have it no other way. I am proud of her and proud to be her husband and the leader of our family. She is an outstanding mother, an amazing partner in ministry, a great musician, and she outshines me as a leader and visionary for church growth. I am indebted and grateful to her for her many years of patience, love, grace, and forgiveness.
I have 2 beautiful daughters and one beautiful son who will grow up knowing how to pull a trigger, secure an armbar, and gut an Elk. I am teaching them the stories of the bible, to fear God, and to love others while they are young, so that hopefully when they are old they will not depart from His word. I pray that someday they will surpass me in their faith and faithfulness to God.
We live in the foothills of the pacific northwest coast and have an old farmhouse 12 miles out of a small bedroom community. We have a small herd of sheep, a Llama named Casey, a black short hair cat name Johnny Cat, and a black lab named Allie but who goes by Puppies most of the time.
Currently we are also members of an MMA BJJ gym and we are having a blast learning Bjj, Kickboxing, and MMA. We love the exercise, the discipline, and the chance to live just a bit outside of ministry circles through it.
So lately, its Church, family, Bjj a few other hobbies, and more Church. That’s our life, and that’s who I am.
